MediaTitles 35 Case Study B2B magazines What are some of the key facts of the publication? Architecture Australia is the national magazine of the Australian Institute of Architects and has been the journal of record for Australian architecture for over 100 years. Today it is published bi-monthly and continues to play a fundamental role in providing independent reviews of the latest projects; insightful comment on key issues; and news, views and informed discussion of practice matters. The title goes to all members of the Australian Institute of Architects and a wider audience through subscription and newsagency sales. Architecture Australia is the only architecture magazine of its type to be audited by the CAB. The most recent audit shows 15,678 as at 30 September 2009. What is its online position? There are two parts to the publication’s online offer. Full content from the magazine is available online and the archive goes back to January 1996, making it a valuable resource for practising professionals and academic researchers. The second offering is product resource Selector.com. Just re-launched, Selector is a powerful search engine designed for anyone specifying products for building, design and landscape projects. It enables easy research of products, provides direct links to suppliers and plenty of useful information such as sustainability assessments. How do you measure the effectiveness of the magazine? Surveys of Australian architects undertaken every four years by independent market research company Sweeney Research continue to show that Architecture Australia is the magazine preferred by Australian architects – a position it has occupied since the surveys commenced in 1998. The latest research shows that over 70 per cent of architects always/ often read Architecture Australia. The nearest similar title came in at 31 per cent. The magazine has a professional advisory board consisting of leading practitioners and academics, and student body representatives. This group is both a network to the wider profession and a conduit for informed feedback on the performance of the magazine. Registrations for and response to the weekly Selector.com e-newsletter further provide a good measure of activity. What other cross-promotions support the magazine? Architecture Australia is complemented by our other titles in the professional practice area – Artichoke, Houses, Landscape Architecture Australia and Architectural Product News – as well as Selector.com. This offer provides excellent opportunities for advertisers and readers and is supported by regular e-newsletters and Twitter feeds. The publication is the media partner for the Australian pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the most significant event of the international architectural calendar. Architecture Australia is also the invited media partner for Australia for the World Architecture Festival – an international event showcasing the best architecture from around the globe.
